China International Hardware Show Seeks Innovation and Changes at its 20th Session

New Time, New Venue and New Look

China National Hardware Association and Koelnmesse, organisers of China International Hardware Show, held a media conference and released the relocation and retiming of this year's CIHS on January 10th. Both sides declared that from 2020, the China International Hardware Show (CIHS) will move its venue to W1-W5 and N1-N5 at Shanghai New International Expo Center. This year's CIHS will be held from 7-9 August 2020 in order to provide the best service to all exhibitors and provide the most effective results for all buyers.

This year is the 20th session of CIHS. At this special time, such a major change reflects the organisers' determination and attitude to innovative ideas, continuous improvement of services and delivery of a better exhibition effect. “The adjusted CIHS will stay market-oriented and technology-focused, remain committed to creating greater value with a stable scale, improving quality and strengthening service, as well as contributing more to the high-quality development of the Chinese hardware industry through increased cooperation, improved management and service, a high-quality platform for trade, exchange and friendship”, said Zhang Dongli, Chairman of China National Hardware Association.

Such a tremendous change in terms of the event date and venue is a careful and well considered decision by CIHS, an exhibition ranking among the world's most prestigious international hardware shows. CIHS was held at National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) for five years consecutively. Due to the China International Import Expo being held in the same exhibition center since 2018 CIHS has faced a change of dates to an earlier date and also restrictions on the use of the venue. As a result, exhibitors, buyers and visitors to CIHS have experienced difficulties and inconveniences, which have had a negative impact on the exhibition.

The organisers of CIHS, China National Hardware Association and Koelnmesse acted on the feedback of exhibitors and purchasers and, after several rounds of consultation and discussion, finally decided to change the venue and adjust the date of the show.

According to Miyasai Tuerxun, General Manager (Inbound) of Koelnmesse (Beijing) Co. Ltd., Shanghai New International Expo Center completely meets the requirements of CIHS in terms of layout, supportive facilities, traffic connections, etc. as it was the venue for CIHS before 2015. As for the timing for CIHS, a universal concern from exhibitors and purchasers, the venue owner articulated that it would give priority to the scheduling of CIHS in the coming years. In addition, Koelnmesse will also intensify its efforts to promote CIHS abroad and arrange for more international companies to attend the fair.

CIHS is known as "the pioneer," "the barometer" or "the facilitator" of the Chinese hardware industry as its 19 editions witnessed the growth of the hardware industry in China. Exports by the Chinese hardware industry at the very outset of the show were worth about 3.8 billion US dollars. Now they are stable at about 100 billion US dollars, an increase of about 34 times in two decades. This achievement is not only due to China's entry to the WTO and subsequent globalisation of the Chinese hardware, but also to the contribution made by China International Hardware Show.

Over the past 19 years, CIHS has firmly geared to serve the hardware industry, charged with launching new products, new technologies, new materials and new designs into the market, and positioned to adjust itself to the changing market requirements. Since its inception, it has enjoyed rapid development with an annual increase of nearly 10,000 square meters as a result of its adaptation to the market and the trade. By 2019, CIHS has become a top professional hardware exhibition in the industry with a total size of 120,000 square meters, nearly 3,000 exhibitors and over 40,000 visitors.

Zhang Dongli articulated that China International Hardware Show will stay true to its market-oriented and technology-focused commitment, continue to guide businesses in making technological progress, and put in place the initiatives in respect of innovation, quality and green development. The future exhibition will also follow the trends of the industry development, focus on the relevant topics, take effective measures and targeted activities, guide and promote the sustainable, healthy and high-quality development of the hardware industry.
